The season isn’t over yet, so you still have a few weeks to enjoy our favorite local summer activities. Luckily, you don’t have to travel far from Sutter County to find cool ways to spend the day. Set aside time to try one of these four fun picks in Yuba City, CA.

Sutter Bikeway

Take a leisurely 10-mile out-and-back ride on this flat, paved biking trail, which follows the former track of the Sacramento Northern Railroad. The Sutter Bikeway runs from the intersection of Hooper Rd and Jefferson Ave in Yuba City to Acacia Rd in Sutter.

Along the way, you’ll have a stunning view of the Sutter Buttes, the world’s smallest mountain range at about 75 square miles in area. You might even see some local migratory waterfowl, such as the great egret and the Canada goose.

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

The Acting Company presents this stage adaptation of the classic children’s film Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, with weekend performances through September 17. Tickets to this Yuba City show cost $20 for adults and $15 for ages 17 and younger.

Enjoy this fun musical, which features familiar songs to anyone who enjoyed the movie, either Friday or Saturday at 7:30 p.m. or Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. The Acting Company is located at 815 B St.

Regency Park

At almost 6 acres, this is one of Yuba City’s larger parks. Regency Park has activities for the whole family, including a small playground for preschoolers and a separate playground for older kids. You can pack a lunch to enjoy in the shade at the picnic pavilion.

Other amenities at Regency Park include an open play space, walking path, garden, and splash pad. It’s located at the corner of Parc West Dr and Stabler Ln.

Gauche Aquatic Park

This park is our favorite place to cool off in Yuba City. Gauche Aquatic Park has a three-foot pool with a sprayground, a separate lap pool with 10 lanes, and a 25-foot water slide. The facilities include men’s and women’s locker rooms, a concession stand, and a first-aid station. You’ll also find playground equipment, horseshoe pits, climbing rocks, meadows, and picnic facilities with barbecue grills.

Gauche Aquatic Park has two public swim sessions on weekend days through September 4. You can visit from noon to 2:30 p.m. or 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Admission is $7 per session for adults, $5 for seniors, and free for children 2 and younger. It’s located at 421 Center St.

Cruising around Yuba City is even more fun in the sporty Kia Seltos. Take a test drive of this subcompact today with the team at Geweke Kia.
